Academy Awards 2009!

Okay, so how amazing were the Oscars this year? As an award show junkie, I can say with some level of authority that this year's Academy Awards were better then they have been in years. Now, lets get down to it.

There were definitely some big hits and even bigger misses.

Angelina Jolie looked amazing in black with stunning emerald jewelry and her sophisticated loose waves. Anne Hathaway rocked the red carpet in gold with a pretty bun. Tina Fey stunned with her gold form fitting dress and my fave awards show hairstyle, the side bun. Jennifer Aniston did what she does best with long beachy waves and a gold dress. Meryl Streep looked regal as always. Taraji P. Henson looked sleek and sophisticated with her short bob. And finally, Amy Adams looked great with her sleek bun and side swept bangs.

Now, the misses. And boy were there some misses. Melissa Leo's frock and hair did nothing for her, and made her look years older than she is. Kate Winslet missed the mark tonight. The stunning actress who usually looks fabulous in everything she walks down the red carpet in, looked boring in her grey gown and even more boring hairstyle! Evan Rachel Wood looked great from the shoulders down, but heavy eye makeup and a prom up-do ruined her top half. Finally, Tilda Swinton's blond hair totally washed her out.

Grammy Awards 2009

Hey there everyone!

Things got a little crazy with school in the last couple of weeks, but don't think I forgot about the Grammys and more importantly, Grammy hair! I'm going to run down a list of my faves and flops, and you better believe I'll be posting right after the Oscars tomorrow! This is the mack daddy of awards shows. My favorite day of the year! But lets get back to Grammy. Grammy is Oscar's punk rock cousin. Grammy is the place stars come to get their crazy and fun out. It's always hit and miss at the Grammys, and this year, there were definitely some hits and some very big misses.

Let's start with the good news. My favorite hairstyle of the night was a surprise. Audrina Patridge from The Hills has the most amazing messy side bun! I am no fan of The Hills, (and as a student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA-- the school Lauren Conrad attends, I am sick of the hype) but I thought she looked AMAZING. Other high notes included: Taylor Swift (who always looks fabulous), Carrie Underwood, and Miley Cyrus.

Some of the misses? Paula Abdul (is it just me or is she a permanent resident on the worst dressed lists?), Keyshia Cole, Cyndi Lauper, and Lisa Rina.

Any thoughts on Grammy hair? Stay tuned for my Oscars round up, and in the mean time, check out BellaSugar's take on Grammy fashion, beauty, and hair!

Hair Trends

Recently the Kronos team enjoyed a webinar from Happi that delved into the latest trends in hair styling.

We learned that there are some major trends that are affecting what consumers demand. Here are some highlights:

• Advances in prevention of damage and ease of use in hair coloring
• Enhancing durability by the formulation of conditioners, colors and styling products that endure shampoo after shampoo
• Styling and volumizing with natural feel

Of course we are putting these findings to work within the Kronos line and are already working on new products that are sure to rock the hair industry. We'll keep you posted here on the blog!

Kronos launches in Canada

So exiting news in the land of anti-aging hair care!

Kronos kicked off its shopping network roll-out with a launch on the The Shopping Channel in Canada on February 14. The event (which included four one- hour shows, nine hair models and an elaborate amount of hairspray) was a huge success. In fact three of the six items launched were sold out by the end of the day!

Dusty excelled not only as a master stylist but as a multi-tasker who washed, styled and transformed models between shows and captured viewer's attention with a show that was entertaining and informative at the same time. The US launch is in March, and Canada already called to have Dusty back on air in April.

Barbie Girl!!!

Growing up, I was definitely a Barbie girl. There was nothing better than getting a new Barbie and taking your old one and cutting her hair, or changing the style! My older brother used to tease me and say that I only needed Barbie for her head since all I did was play with her hair. Mattel saw how much some of us loved doing Barbie's hair, they even came out with a doll who's hair you could cut and stick back on! 2009 marks Barbie's 50th birthday, and Allure Magazine has compiled some of Barbie's most famous hairstyles. From the original blond with curly bangs, to the most popular Total Hair Barbie (with hair down to her feet!) Check out Allure's Barbie World slide show. My favorites have got to be Maxi N Mini Fashion Barbie from 1970 and 1986's Cyndi Lauper inspired Barbie!

And don't forget about the Grammy's this Sunday! I can't wait to check out the celebs, their wardrobe choices, and more importantly their hair!!!
